The Peacock
Every brand starts with a symbol.
For Aarvein, it was always going to be the peacock.
Growing up, I saw peacocks everywhere.
In Indian art.
In textiles.
In embroidery.
In architecture.
In stories passed down through generations.
The peacock has long been associated with beauty, celebration, creativity, and self-expression. It appears throughout South Asian craftsmanship as a symbol of elegance and cultural pride.
But what drew me to it wasn’t just its history.
It was what it represented.
The peacock doesn’t apologize for being seen.
It doesn’t shrink itself to make others comfortable.
It doesn’t choose between beauty and confidence.
It embodies both.
As a queer Gujarati-Canadian, that symbolism resonated deeply with me.
For many of us, self-expression can feel complicated. We learn when to stand out and when to blend in. We learn which parts of ourselves feel safe to show and which parts are easier to hide.
The peacock became a reminder that beauty, culture, softness, and self-expression do not need permission to exist.
They can exist openly.
That idea sits at the heart of Aarvein.
Not loud confidence.
Not performance.
Not becoming someone else.
Simply becoming more visibly yourself.
The peacock also reflects the balance we strive for in every garment:
Softness and structure.
Comfort and elegance.
Tradition and modernity.
Culture and individuality.
Today, the peacock appears throughout Aarvein as our signature motif, embroidered into pieces designed to be worn often and kept for years.
Not as a logo.
As a reminder.
A reminder that comfort does not have to be ordinary.
That culture belongs in everyday life.
And that taking up space beautifully is nothing to apologize for.
